In honor of Chandler's 10Th birthday, I have to do a little bragging.

Chandler never ceases to amaze me. He loves his brothers (and sister, of course) so much.

Here are a few examples :

The other day at school Hunter lost his lunch money. Chandler felt bad and he gave him his lunch money. Chandlers friends wondered why in the world he would give his lunch up for his little brother. He said, " I'm not going to let my little brother starve." He then gave them a "duh" look. He didn't eat lunch so his little brother could. My heart melted when I heard that.

Another time they were headed off to school and they were about half way their and Chandler noticed that Hunter forgot his back pack. He told Hunter to wait and he went back home and got his back pack for him.

Other things that he does is he takes Ashton out in the neighborhood after school sometimes to play or go for a walk. It really helps me out when its time to cook dinner or I need a break.

Chandler is very attuned to how people feel around him. There are a hand full of times that he senses when I am stressed or tired and he helps by taking the the kids and playing with them so I can have a breather.

Chandler is so amazing. His heart is so full of love and compassion toward others. A trait he no doubt got from his father. We are so blessed to have Chandler in our family

Happy 1st Birthday Bella!

One year ago our lives changed. We had a baby girl and our fourth child. I was a little scared to have a girl. I know boys because I have three of them. But, girls...Wow! I love it so far. Words cannot describe how much I love Bella. She is so peaceful and loving. Everyday I look at her and she smiles at me. It is like she is saying "I love you mom". I look back at her and smile and say out loud, "I love you too, Bella". She is so beautiful and she has us all wrapped around her little finger. Happy birthday beautiful Bella Alexandria Eggett!

Go BYU!!! OH no! They lost.

Travis was fortunate enough to get some tickets to a BYU vs. TCU football game. He was planning on taking just the two older boys for some good father/son bonding. But, as you can see, I really really wanted to go. So at the last minute Travis asked our most gracious neighbor if she wouldn't mind taking care of the two little ones. She said she would in exchange for me taking her child for half a day. Yes! I got to go.

It was so much fun. We took the 4 hour drive to Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. It was well worth it. We saw a lot of people we new from our church including our bishop and his family. We also saw someone famous. You can probably see him in the back round signing autographs. Ty Detmer was their as a quest speaker at the tail gate party to help us get pumped up for the game. He signed Hunter and Chandler's football. He was very nice and stayed and signed autographs up until the game started. As we were walking to the stadium we were walking with friends and Hunter was straying a little from us and Ty noticed and said, " hey! you better get over this way by your family." I didn't see him right behind us. It was very nice of him to notice Hunter straying away and then say something.

OK so BYU lost. That was hard to take in. Despite that little set back, we had a blast! I have to say that the TCU fans were very nice about it. While walking back to our car, a TCU fan said to us that "BYU is a really good team, we were lucky". I agreed with him. I immediately felt better. The BYU fans were amazingly loud. I was very impressed. We were in seats where you could see all the BYU fans.

We really had a great time. It was nice to be able to just sit and not have to worry about a baby or toddler. No changing diapers, bottles, or crying. It was nice. We got out of their about 10pm and started our 4 hour drive home. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. I drove most of the way home because I do better driving at night. The rest of the family slept. About an hour before we got home I was really tired and Travis was able to get a little nap in, so he took over for the rest of the drive.

We made it home at about2:30am. We still had to get up for school and work. We were very tired. But, like I said, it was worth it. We had a blast! Go BYU!

Happy Birthday Alexandria!!!

To my sister, Alexandria.

I am so very blessed to have Alexandria as my sister. I have always wanted to be like her. I remember that I wanted braces just like her. With the head gear and everything. She could even make head gear look good. That takes talent. Speaking of Talent, I love to hear her sing. One time at church I got to sing with Alexandria and mom. I was so happy.

One thing, and there are a lot of things, that I love about Alexandria is how much she loves her family. She always puts us first. She shows us everyday how much she loves us. We are always welcome in her home. If we have any problems, we can count on her anytime to help us in anyway she can. She has the ability to tackle any problem with love and devotion. I know she would do anything for us.

I always looked forward to waking up in the mornings so I could see what creation Xan made with her clothes and hair. I remember thinking that when I got to high school I wanted to wear a scarf in my hair just like Xan. But, the times changed by the time I got to high school and "all natural grunge" was the style for me.

I remember when we shared a room. We had that black and white t.v. and Alexandria let me stay up late to watch Gone with the wind. (Ahh Ret Butler) Anyway, I was so happy that she let me stay up late with her. I was like her best friend and we were having a sleep over.

Music. There are some songs that come on the radio that remind me of Xan. It is amazing to me how music ties into so much memory. For instance, "Bizzare love triangle" is a song that I remember very well that ties some of my memories to Xan. The dancing, the singing, the clothes, the hair! I wanted to go to "The Bay" so bad with Xan. Of course I was too young. I have to admit, I was a little jealous of Mark. He got to go with Xan to "The Bay" and "Club DV8". The only reason Mark got to go was because he was the only one that would let Xan dress him up and he could actually dance.

One thing Xan and I have in common is how much we love our brothers! We would do anything for them. I know Alexandria will agree with me when I say that we are so blessed to have such good brothers that, despite some "pot holes" in the road-instead of bumps-, they have grown up to be great men. We are very proud of all of their accomplishments. We see how much they love their families and it makes us so proud to be their sisters.

When it came time to name our beautiful baby girl there was no doubt I wanted her to have a name that represented someone beautiful, strong, courageous, loving and creative. Naturally I chose Alexandria. There was no doubt in my mind that that was to be part of her name forever. Bella Alexandria Eggett loves her aunt. They bonded immediately. It warmed my heart that Xan loved hubba bubba the first time she saw her.

I just want to say to you, Alexandria, that I love you so very much. I wish that we could live closer together. I know that we would be there for each other everyday. I would join your "Bountiful Babes" running group. It would be so much fun. Have a wonderful birthday.

All my love to you, your sister,
Sima

Enjoy some music that reminds me of Xan!

Hurrican Ike

We Survived!!

It's amazing to me how we can switch our minds and bodies into survival mode. We knew the hurricane was coming and we prepared the best way we could.
The first slideshow is before the storm and the neighborhood coming together to wish each other good luck. You can see the clouds coming in and the wind starting to blow the trees around. We finally had to go in because their was debris flying around.

That night the wind blew hard. The power turned off and the boys and Bella fell asleep in the closet. I could not sleep at all. The storm was loud and I was uncomfortable in the closet. I could here all kinds of big sounds out side. I was scared. I decided right then that now would be a good time to repent for all of my sins.(ha ha?)

The next day it rained and rained. We all emerged from our homes to survey the damage. Trees everywhere, fences torn down, flooding in the streets. We were so blessed to only have our tree fall over and barely miss our home. We also had flooding in the front room so Travis took care of that with a generator, extension cord, and a wet vac. The next slide show is of the damage around our neighborhood and the kids having a little fun in the rain.

Like I said our tree fell over, so we had to put it back up. We hope it will make it. My friend Christina thought that going in the middle of the street was the best way to get around the debris that was on the side walks without getting all muddy. Kim and I thought otherwise. I captured a picture of her holding up traffic while walking in the middle of the street holding Teia, Kim's little girl. We laughed pretty hard.

For the next almost two weeks we had no power. It was a camping trip that you couldn't leave. My boys loved it. Flashlights, fire pit, smores, staying up late because of no school, dirty clothes, playing non stop, it was a boys dream come true. The kids had the best vacation. Of course they had no idea the worry that was going on behind the scenes. Ah, to be a little kid again and not have to worry about food, laundry, or when our power was going to turn back on. Speaking of laundry, I had the great opportunity to test my inner domestic skills. To say that I was a little annoyed could be an understatement. Chandler so kindly captured one of my great hurricane moments, "doing the laundry".

I have to add this picture because, well, I have no pride. I am willing to show all of you exactly how I look on day three with no power, and at that time, no water. We had to wait a little bit before we used the water just to be sure the water was not contaminated. It turned out it was not. I just have to say that you are seeing me right when I woke up. This is my "just woke up after tossing and turning no shower for three days humidity drivin tousled hurricane hair". Few! (and no, those are not "G's") Please do not be scared. My friend Mandy came to my rescue as soon as she could. She saved my hair! It is back to normal now.

Here is the last slide show with pictures of our family and friends getting together to eat all our meat before it goes bad. We probably gained a pound or two eating steak, chicken, pork, ribs, hot dogs, and so on, every night. You will also see pictures of our cooler that we used as our "refrigerator" and also some of the clean up that was being done. There are still piles and piles of debris along the sides of the rode ready to be picked up. Also some pictures of the kids playing, the clothes line that Travis put up for me so I could hang our clothes up in the back yard, and more. I have to add that now that the power is back on, It was not that bad with no power. The last two days we were able to borrow a generator from a family(thank you Rascon's!) and I was able to run a fan (it was getting really hot), vacuum, do a load or two of laundry. It was great. We also watched a movie and I made popcorn from our gas stove. (I love gas stoves. we were able to use our stove because we could just light it with a match and it turned on. Amazing how that works.) I could go on and on about the many things that happened and the things Travis and I learned from the whole experience. If their is one thing that I can take from this experience it is that I love my family and I am so blessed to be a part of it. We really grew closer together and we took care of each other.

One more thing, I have to give credit to Travis who worked very hard to help around our community. Last hurricane he bought a chain saw and so he was so excited to use it again. He got it out and told me that he needed to help a neighbor with a tree on his house or a neighbor with a tree in his yard, and so on. He was coming and going with that thing. I could tell that it made feel good to be using such a powerful piece of equipment. Way to be a man, Travis!!

11 years!!

Wow! 11 years

Thank you Travis for a wonderful 11 years. Thank you for your support, unconditional love, PATIENCE, thoughtfulness, selflessness, willingness to put others first. I sometimes feel like I don't deserve you. You are such a strength in my life.

I remember when the photographer asked us to look at each other for this picture, and when we did I thought WOW, I know he is going to be the best dad ever to our children. Travis you are an amazing father! Thank you for be their for our kids. Thank you for loving them, playing with them, talking to them like they really matter to you.

I don't think this picture was planned. It was a very sweet moment. Thank you for all the sweet moments we have had. Thank you for respecting me. Thank you for making me feel loved.

Thank you for honoring your responsibilities as a husband, father, and in your church duties. Thank you for being such a great example to our three boys. Showing them how a true man should be, act, and live. For our daughter, she will strive to marry someone like you.

My favorite picture out of all of them. This picture is so us. Happy anniversary Travis. Thank you for everything. I only hope that I can do for you what you have done for me. I love you.
LOVE, SIMA

Chandler in Swim Team

Chandler has already had a very busy summer. We just finished this season of swim team. We loved going to the swim meets and supporting Chandler.

His form is getting better and better. This is our third year on the Imperial Oaks Seals Swim Team.

This is Chandler getting psyched up to do the breast stroke. Just before he goes up on the platform I yell real loud and get him all hyper and psyched out to "pull" fast and hard in the water. He has a serious face but inside, if you can imagine, is the song "We will Rock you" or "Eye of the tiger". Of course, they have some real cool music going on at the meet.

They call up the next swimmers and Chandler gets ready and into form for the big dive.

One of Chandler's strengths is his dives. I did not capture it very well here. I will get a better picture of his dive. I wanted to put this in so you all get a good idea of how this all works. Anyway, he takes off and stream lines to almost the middle of the pool. Then he strokes like no tomorrow. I yell " Pull! Chandler! Pull!". I know he can't hear me very well, but , he knows I am their with my loud mouth yelling at the top of my lungs.

He sees the end coming and remembers that he has to put both hands on the wall at the same time or get DQ'd. He remembered and came in second. One of his best times at breast stroke. He loves free style and back stroke the best. I will get more pictures of those later.

Now we wait about 20 min. until the nest heat, and It starts all over again with a different stroke each time. He is amazing. He has worked really hard on these different strokes.

This is the ready bench. everyone has a certain place in line they have to stay in. It is very orderly. Chandler put on full gear for his next heat. He looks so handsome!
Hunter will start swim team next year. He is very excited.
